#RondallesAlCel

Mission acomplished!!! After our successful proposal acceptance by the International Astronomical Union, we decided to celebrate the result all together at ParcBit!

We prepared the stage and the telescopes during the afternoon. Meanwhile, everyone came to welcome the recenly named Catalineta & Filetdor.

First of all, Enric Culat (UDCC-UIB) introduced Sebastià Barceló Forteza who told us the succesful adventure to the acceptance of the Es nostro cel proposal. After the good news, Sebastià highlight the importance of the milestone. He acknowledge everyone for the suport.

Bel Bonet, head of CC Bisbe Verger; Jimena, Daniela & Jaime, some of the authors of the proposal.

To continue, Bel Bonet, head of CC Bisbe Verger, remembered the first call by Sebastià to participate in NameExoWorlds. In name of all her pupils, Daniela, Jaime, & Jimena told us the experience of creating and defending their proposal at Teatre Principal in Santanyí. They were very happy to be here celebrating the results!

Later, the teacher Santiago Jiménez explained us the outreach activities they made at IES Marc Ferrer: «We cannot afford to miss this opportunity. These are the kind of things doesn’t happen every day».

On behalf of the IES Joan Alcover, the student Martina Barceló told us how their high school joined the project after the Support event organized by UIB. Aina Alemany explained us what an auca is and how they have made it. In fact, the auca was exhibited during the event in the square close to the Auditorium of Son Espanyol at ParcBit. Gustau Catalán continued talking about «Na Filet d’Or al s.XXI» three new versions of this folktale but happening nowadays. In addition, these versions made an acomplished prediction: Filetdor & Catalineta already belong to the celestial bodies. To end their talk, the students read some fragments of their versions:

  • Na Lluïsa i les papallones
  • Na Diana i el mirall de la veritat read by Aina Llull
  • La visita intergalàctica read by Jan Tugores
M. Gelabert on behalf of IES Mossèn Alcover & Amics de la Institució A. M. Alcover

As the incarnation of the folktale spirit, Magdalena Gelabert congratulated and acknowledged all the team for this proposal. She wanted us to note that our traditions are out in space: «Now is time to continue spreading our cultural Universe around the Universe itself».

Institutional toast: P. Marcús, E. Nicola, E. Culat, S. Barceló Forteza, J.L. Pons, V. Homar, & M.R. Delgado.

The last talks driven by Victor Homar, vice-chancelor of Research at UIB; & by Joan Lluis Pons, General Director of Research at Govern de les Illes Balears, highlighted the value of the scientific culture, approaching science and traditions to the citizens. In fact, Homar made a fast experiment proving that point. Both of them made us remember the relevance of women in science, already observed for our traditional folktales: women can be the heroines too.

Més de 150 persones al ParcBit observant estels, constelacions i estacions internacionals per Paco San Román

After a snack, Pep Marcús and Club Newton captivate all the participants of the astronomical observation. There were more astronomical association with us during that night: AstroMallorca members unveil the celestial bodies with their telescopes thanks to Ernesto Nicola. We connected with Santiago Jiménez and the Associació Astronòmica de Formentera, observing from the neighboring island. On the contrary it was not possible to connect with Secció Astronòmica del Cercle Artístic (Menorca) nor con la Associació Astronòmica d’Eivissa, but we carried them in our souls. In spite of the terrible meteorogical predictions, there was a perfect starry night: we saw a lot of stars, constelations, nebulae, space stations, and a lot of stories to tell. Once we finished the night, our feelings were those of finishing a beautiful folktale: Idò qui no ho creu, que ho vaja a cercar! (You should believe it!)
