Lessons (2023-24)
The high school teachers from CC Bisbe Verger, IES Joan Alcover, IES Mossèn Alcover, & IES Santa Maria d’Eivissa continued the legacy of our project. Thank you very much!
During January and February, Sebastià Barceló Forteza visited each one of the high schools. In that way, he explained the interdisciplinary activities both to the teachers and students. He did 8 sessions around 1h each.
The Ibizan high school was an exception. Santiago Jiménez, one of their teachers, knows the secrets of the Universe thanks to his MSc. on Astrophysics.
Once all students knew the how to, the created several groups looking for similarities with the characteristics of stellar systems and the Balearic features. We did not only mix Astrophysics, Catalan literature, & English,… we also included Geography, Biology, traditions & much more!
Thirty proposals were received, more than all received by NameExoWorlds 2022 from Spain. The members of the SOC supported the students with their comments and suggestions in order to improve the proposals to their final form: a text, a video & all apropriate kinds of art.
The deadline was at April 27th and the jury had to make a rough decision. Most of the proposals deserve to be defended at the Teatre Principal de Santanyí… But only 8 could, 2 per high school.
